Haunted Ft. Smith National Cemetery

Ft. Smith, Arkansas

The Fort Smith National Cemetery is a peaceful and dignified place of final rest... for the most part. At night, the National Cemetery is a whole different world. Some say a supernatural world to say the least. Witnesses there have reported sightings of a ghostly funeral procession, the participants decked out in turn-of-the-century clothing. At other times throughout the years, visitors to the cemetery have heard disembodied-voices singing old hymnals like a choir. Gravestones will sometimes glow and even move around following visitors. Others say the ghost of a decorative-saddled horse will appear, slowly being led by a phantom Civil War soldier towards the back of the cemetery, and at night, witnesses say the sound of heavy wagons resonates throughout the cemetery.

Ghostly Car - Chaser of Redfield Road

Sheridan, Arkansas

Not too far south of Little Rock, deep in the forest, runs the lonely Old Redfield Road, originally one of the major thoroughfares that went through the small town of Sheridan. Legend has it that Old Redfield Road is a supernatural hotspot. Local residents along the old highway, have reported sightings of ghosts roaming the road or lingering in an old decrepit cemetery nearby, with passing motorists having reported car radios and other electronics malfunctioning as they pass the graveyard. The most frightening legend about Old Redfield Road is that of the Headless Car-Chaser. Witnesses report that as you drive a particular stretch of Old Redfield Road, a headless phantom will spring from the woods and chase your vehicle for about a quarter of a mile, keeping pace with the vehicle no matter how much you accelerate. If the vehicle is a pick-up truck, some say the phantom will jump into the bed of the truck and hitch a ride to a particular point then disappear. The story behind this bit of lore is that a workman with one of the timber companies had an accident on the job, which cost him his head. Though his body was recovered, his head tumbled down a hill into thick underbrush and was never found. So, is the Headless Car-Chaser chasing vehicles or hitching rides as a way of seeking help looking for his missing head? We'd rather not stop to ask him.

The Fouke Monster

Fouke, Arkansas

Fouke, Arkansas is known for its legends about the Boggy Creek Monster, an 8-foot-tall, Bigfoot-like creature with monstrous strength reportedly been seen by locals throughout the years since the 1940s. It is described as being completely covered in reddish-brown hair, leaving three-toed tracks, and having a foul odor. Fouke Monster Mart in Fouke is the place to go if you want to find out more about the Boggy Creek Monster. The souvenir store sells monster t-shirts and postcards, and it still has a plaster cast of the monster’s foot on display. To get to the Fouke Monster Mart, just follow U.S. 71 into town. The store is just north of Butler Street.

Wow, just thinking about these eerie Arkansas tales will send chills down anybody’s spine. Tall tales or not, if you travel to visit these spooky places, travel in style. Have the confidence that you can leave these places safely. Leave the ghosts in the dust by driving a new vehicle. Let your friends at McLarty Daniel Ford Bentonville assist with your vehicle needs! Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

With a lower starting price than the Santa Cruz and multiple trims, including hybrid and EcoBoost options, it appeals to a wide range of buyers. The Santa Cruz costs more upfront and offers fewer configurations, but it positions itself as a unique lifestyle truck for adventurous, style-conscious drivers. Result: Maverick leads for affordability and variety. Santa Cruz is best for those who want something less traditional and more niche.

Ford Donates Millions To Military Charities This Holiday Season

What a great story to get you into the Christmas spirit after a year of uncertainty. This holiday season, Ford Motor Company and Ford dealers are showing their support for U.S. military heroes by donating $3.5 million to military charities as part of the company’s Proud to Honor program, which works to raise awareness of the needs of veterans and to support partners who address those needs. “We are humbled by the sacrifices made by our military service members and their families,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. marketing, sales and service. “Our Ford dealers are woven into the fabric of their communities and I’m proud of the support they provide to make a difference in the lives of our vets.” Through the Proud to Honor initiative, Ford raises awareness for members of the military, strengthen existing programs, and create a viable connection with those serving their country. Presently, Ford employs approximately 6,000 veterans. We can all help too with raising awareness for our veterans. Anyone who shares a post on social media reflecting pride in a member of the U.S. military, using #proud honor, Ford will donate $100 to be split evenly between the seven Ford Proud to Honor military charities, up to $3.5 million through Dec. 31, 2020. Proceeds will be directed to wonderful programs such as Blue Star Families, Guitars for Vets, DAV, Workshops for Warriors, Oscar Mike, Bunker Labs and Boulder Crest Foundation. In other news, Ford Motor Company and Pro Football Hall of Fame are combining efforts for the Ford Proud to Honor Hall of Heroes, in recognizing deserving military men and women who exemplify hard work, selflessness, and a commitment to excellence. Kathy Roth-Douquet, the founder of the national nonprofit Blue Star Families, became the first member of the Hall of Heroes. Ford will donate $10,000 worth of toys for Blue Star Families’ charity drive benefiting the children of military families.
