Ford Recently unveiled the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept vehicle at the Overland Expo East in Arrington, Virginia, designed for more extreme excursions. The one-of-a-kind vehicle is based on Ford’s new Expedition Timberline series, which is the most off-road capable Expedition ever.

To let travelers comfortably go to hard-to-reach mountainous trailheads, lonely lakes, and far desert dunes, the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept is outfitted with proven brands in off-road gear and off-road accessories.

“The Expedition Timberline Off-Grid idea offers a futuristic vision of how family explorers might potentially get even more out of an Expedition Timberline, including the ultimate transportable basecamp,” stated Robert Varto, the concept’s program manager.

The Expedition Timberline Off-Grid idea is centered on multi-day off-roading capabilities and simplicity of usage. The SUV’s elevated stance, custom DeeZee Rock Rail Hoop Steps, and unmistakable CG Detroit custom topographic wrap over factory Forged Green exterior paint are the most apparent features.

With 10.6 inches of usable ground clearance, the 2022 Ford Expedition has the greatest available ground clearance in its class, and the concept adds two inches further with unique FOX Performance Elite Series 2.5-inch shocks with Dual Speed Compression adjusters and remote reservoirs front and rear. In addition, 35-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires are wrapped around 17-inch Method Race Wheels with Bead Grip technology.

The Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept utilizes Ford’s Outfitter collection with dealer-available extras to guarantee the ideal mobile camping. A Thule Tepui Explorer tent with roof rail crossbars, a factory-installed transmission cover, Overland Vehicle Systems’ Nomadic 180-degree awning that quickly comes out to help shelter travelers from the elements, and a Wild Land portable privacy room shower are among the options.

A 50-inch Rigid light bar is mounted above the windscreen, with an additional Rigid 20-inch light bar below the grille, and D-SS Rigid side shooter cube lights are affixed atop the hood, illuminating the trail and the campground at night. Rigid lamps positioned in the wheel wells and liftgate provide additional illumination. Stargazers can turn the lights crimson by flipping a switch.

An EZ STAK custom aluminum dual storage drawer unit rests under a bespoke Luno® camping mattress with accommodations for two in the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept’s interior. Luno also includes a concept-specific Base Extender, window shades, and a portable USB fan to make sleeping in the concept vehicle even more pleasant. A Clarios AGM battery, particularly built for vehicles supporting the most demanding applications, ensures that this concept vehicle can handle electric loads needed at off-the-grid campsites.

The Expedition Timberline concept vehicle’s potential in the woods is further enhanced with a Turtleback Expedition Series Trailer, the biggest trailer in the Turtleback series. With Method brand wheels and Grabber all-terrain tires, the trailer complements the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept. It has a two-burner propane stove and deep-well sink, two drop-down tables, a 42-gallon water tank and six-gallon water heater with external shower hookup, and a pancake propane tank to accommodate extra stuff for an extended cross-country journey. A refrigerator and a 100-watt solar panel are also available as options.
