With gas prices down and fuel economy up at Ford thanks to the Blue Oval’s commitment to squeezing big power from smaller, more efficient engines with modern turbocharging, sales of the Ford Expedition were through the roof in 2019, up 56 percent when compared to 2018. The result was the best eight-month start for the Expedition in over a decade.
Recognizing that customers are hungry for an Expedition with even more character, style and luxury, Ford recently announced they’re bringing one of the most storied names in history to the Expedition lineup for the first time, with the 2020 Ford Expedition King Ranch. and long-wheelbase 2020 Ford Expedition MAX King Ranch. Named after the iconic Texas Ranch, the 2020 Expedition King Ranch is the latest in a 20-year collaboration between Ford and the Lone Star Icon.
“The King Ranch name carries with it a legacy of hard work that defines the American ranching lifestyle, with the heritage and family traditions Ford Expedition represents,” said Andrew Kernahan, Expedition chief engineer. “It’s a great addition to the lineup, growing Expedition’s appeal and personality in Texas as well as with customers across the U.S. looking for western-inspired style and timeless design.”
The Expedition King Ranch originally debuted in 2005, and was the second Ford King Ranch model, following the Ford F-150 King Ranch in 1999. For 2020, the all-new Expedition King Ranch is all about luxury inside and out, with Stone Gray paint on the grille mesh, retractable running boards, rear bumper skid plate, roof rack, side mirror caps and more.
Body color upper bumpers and Stone Gray lower bumpers up the style, while 22-inch six-spoke painted machine finished aluminum wheels with dark tarnish-painted pockets put the power to the ground. Finishing out the look is the distinctive King Ranch badging, with the ranch’s iconic “Running W” brand appearing on the liftgate, wheel center caps and body molding.
Inside, the luxury continues with supple Del Rio leather on all three rows of seat, offset by Ebony Del Rio leather on the door trim and leather-wrapped steering wheel, with intricate stitching. The console gets real Ziricote wood veneer, while the King Ranch “Running W” brand is embossed on the seatbacks of all three rows.
They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that surely goes for the style and comfort of the 2020 Ford Expedition King Ranch. Are you ready for a ride fit for a King (or Queen)?
