How does BlueCruise work? It uses cameras to monitor your vehicle’s position while in a lane and applies steering support to keep your vehicle centered in the lane. With cameras and location information, BlueCruise allows you to take your hands off the steering wheel for a hands-free driving mode in certain areas. Once activated, BlueCruise uses a camera and infrared lighting to monitor your eyes and head position to detect if you are distracted. If so, it will alert you to keep your eyes on the road.

Does this all sound too good to be true? Can you imagine not having to worry about maneuvering through 5 o’clock traffic in Rogers on I-540 on your way home to Fayetteville? Part of surviving Arkansas weather in the spring is being prepared. Not only can you dress according to the weather reports, but you can make sure your vehicle is equipped for the current season. Make sure your Ford Explorer or F-150‘s windshield wipers are replaced and ready to withstand heavy rains. Pack an umbrella, rain jacket or even a pair of boots in case of flash flooding.

Bella Vista and the surrounding areas are prone to flash flooding, so you never know when you’ll need to make a quick exit. As the National Weather Service says, “Turn around, don’t drown.” A flash flood usually occurs within six hours due to the fact that the rain falls faster than it can be absorbed by the ground or carried away. Since it has nowhere to go, it fills up small streams and creeks that then spill over onto the roadways.

Weather.gov‘s 3 Simple Steps for Flash Flood Safety:

• GET TO HIGHER GROUND. Get out of the areas subject to flooding.
• DO NOT DRIVE INTO WATER. Do NOT drive or walk into flooded areas. It only takes 6 feet of water to knock you off your feet.
• STAY INFORMED. Monitor local radar, television, weather radio, internet or social media for updates.

Besides flash flooding, tornado season is another unpredictable force to reckon with, especially if you’re caught in a storm while driving. However, spring weather in NWA is not normal.

The Basics of Ford’s Driver Assist Technologies

The recent tornadoes in Little Rock, Wynne and even last year in Springdale have people thinking twice about severe weather and what to do if it happens in their neck of the woods. Even more, what to do if they’re caught driving in a severe thunderstorm or a tornado. If at all possible, don’t get out to drive if there is a severe weather threat or a tornado watch or warning. The best thing to do is to take shelter and be cautious.

However, if you’re already out and get caught in the storm, there are some precautions you can take to stay as safe as possible. Contrary to popular belief, it is not recommended to seek shelter under bridges or overpasses as this can create deadly traffic hazards while offering little protection against flying debris. For tornadoes off in the distance, you can drive in the opposite direction or away from the storm as much as possible, if safe to do so and then seek shelter in a sturdy building, such as a bank or fast food restaurant.

If you’re already too far into the storm, do not try to outrun the tornado. Your best bet is to park the car as quickly and as safely as possible, preferably out of traffic lanes. Stay in the car with the seat belt on. Put your head down below the windows, and cover your head with your hands or a blanket, coat or anything else that might work as protection against debris. If there is a lower area you can get to safely, leave your car and lie in that area while covering your head with your hands.

Off-Road Confidence
Badlands is the name of the top-of-the-line Bronco Sport trim, which is loaded with technology for everyone from the novice off-roader to the extreme overlander. For example, a small 180-degree camera mounted directly in the middle of the Bronco grille projects a single or split view to the infotainment screen, which can be useful when navigating through difficult terrain.

While driving the Ford Bronco Sport Badlands edition in Mud/Ruts or Rock Crawl mode, the camera will automatically turn on so that you can always see where your Bronco is in relation to the surrounding terrain. That gives you a great sense of assurance and confidence while you’re off-roading, no matter how inexperienced you are.

Rear Liftgate
Each and every Bronco Sport model is equipped with a split-glass rear liftgate, which is particularly useful if you require quick access to the rear cargo area. If you raise the entire liftgate, you’ll find useful directional floodlights that don’t require any additional power, allowing you to turn off your Ford and still have enough light to see for up to 45 minutes, which is ideal for setting up camp in the dark or navigating unfamiliar terrain.

In addition to serving as convenient grab handles for closing the liftgate door, the two handles are large enough to accommodate hanging your gear or wet towels or clothes after a swim.

As an added bonus, a bottle opener is located on the right-hand side of the vehicle’s body, near the taillight, making it easier than ever to unwind after a long day on the trail or to stand out at a tailgating party. Ford put a lot of thought into the design of the Bronco Sport, and it shows in the final product.

Space
A certain amount of dirt and grime is inevitable when venturing off the beaten path. To make cleaning up after a muddy weekend easier than ever, the Ford Bronco Sport is equipped with rubberized flooring throughout the cabin.

For additional storage, the rear seat cushions can be folded down to reveal hidden compartments for everything from dirty boots to wet clothes to valuables that you want to keep hidden away in your Bronco while out on the trail or in the creek while driving. Additionally, there are numerous other compartments in the Bronco Sport to store all of your belongings!
